About Aurora, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
The city of Aurora is located in the counties of Kane, DuPage, Will, and Kendall in northern Illinois. Originally settled in 1834 by the McCarty brothers, Aurora initially consisted of two villages, East Aurora and West Aurora, incorporated in 1845 and 1854, respectively. The two villages joined in 1857, officially incorporating as the city of Aurora. Today, Aurora is the state’s second largest city and one of the fastest growing cities in the U. S., with a population of nearly 200,000 residents, and counting. Aurora’s humid subtropical climate brings four distinct seasons to the area that produce moderate cool summers, cold wet winters, and lovely mild weather during springtime and fall.
Rich in history and culture, Aurora is home to many historic buildings and architectural landmarks, including structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Bruce Goff, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and George Grant Elmslie. Located in Aurora’s impressive downtown district is the Paramount Theatre, a large performing arts venue listed on the National Register of Historic Places that produces world-class dance, music, and theater productions for over 150,000 patrons annually. Also downtown is the Leland Tower, a 22-story structure that is the tallest building in the state outside the city of Chicago, and the Hollywood Casino, a large gaming establishment situated on the Fox River that features a full compliment of gaming activities, live entertainment, and excellent cuisine.
The downtown district is host to a number of festivals and special events each year. Downtown Alive is a major music festival held one weekend each during the months of June, July, and August that draws top musicians from around the world and features a series of musical entertainment events that include blues, rock, and jam. Also held downtown, the AuroraArtWalk is a quarterly event hosted by the Cultural Creatives, a group of downtown artists, businesses, and property owners interested in fostering an arts-friendly environment in Aurora.
Ranked by the U. S. Census Bureau as the nation’s 34th fastest growing city, the city of Aurora enjoys the prosperity of the present, while keeping a keen eye on growth and expansion in the future.
